REVIEW D G Tips Review Day 88

Sgt Mick Review

28thJanuary

Dear Member
Another profitable day on Friday with Rowlestonerendezvu winning with ease at Kempton.
Rowlestonerendezvu made easy work of a tight handicap last night. He won by almost 5l’s eased down and his price was ultimately a gift.
Fastidious disappointed, not sure what to make of that performance. He was ridden well and perfectly placed so no excuses.
Onto yesterday…
A very poor day, nothing went right admittedly but it was ultimately a poor performance from myself and I expect better. Poor days happen they are part and parcel of the game but we are still 32pts up for the month so plenty of positives. Regroup and then let’s go again.
Grand Inquisitor ran a good race for 4th, he was beaten just a neck by 3rd and should easily have placed. The horse has ran on very strongly but Donohoe lacked intelligence on board tracking the 80-1 outsider throughout before running into the horses back turning for home. Without this he places with ease. We will keep him on side for next time.
La Patriote finished 4th but was given a mountain to climb. Zaidiyn was never put in the race, 30l’s to make up after a furlong. This race however just optimises everything that is wrong with jump racing (my opinion). I love the horses in jump racing and I love watching jump racing as a fan of horse racing in general but I’m afraid there is a fundamental problem here that we see week in week out.
How it is acceptable for two horses to be given a 7l head start over 2m’s is beyond me. They have finished 1st and 3rd, it’s not rocket science is it. Two horses have run less distance, they have been given a 7l head start and finished 1st and 3rd. To put that in perspective its the same as a football team being given 7pts before the season has even began. There isn’t another sport on the planet where this would be accepted and yet jump racing just let’s it happen without any issue whatsoever.
Shyron ran a nice for 3rd and each way returns. The winner got away but did win very well in fairness.
In The Red blew the start, he’s a prominent runner so this was not ideal. Not much we can do about this, that’s racing. Scottish Glen was a bit disappointing, poor tip from me.
The racing as per usual is very poor today so we will be leaving it alone. With four days of the month left, I have been going over the next few days racing and have come to the conclusion it is best for us to take the next three days off .
Today is obviously poor, tomorrow we have a mediocre card from Wolverhampton which I have already been through with little catching the eye and then Tuesday we have another poor card from Southwell which is a track I tend to avoid unless something really catches the eye. That leaves us with Wednesday to finish the month with two AW cards from Chelmsford and Newcastle. To me that seems like the best plan, we have had a great month and as much as I always want more profit there is no point chasing it on poor days.
