Hot Horses Update – Final Review August 28th

Rating: ★★☆☆☆

I started reviewing Hot Horses on December 26th 2009 and by the 15th of February 2010 only 2 had qualified as definite selections both losing. So not as to waste people’s time keep saying No Selections I carried on monitoring the system independently and having been receiving e-mails right up to the present. I will quickly explain the e-mail procedure you are suppose to receive a preliminary e-mail around 11am indicating potential, definite or if there is No Selections, I receive these usually by 1pm, if you have potential selections you should receive an e-mail around 15 to 30 minutes before the race indicating whether the selection is a definite selection or a non qualifier, the reason for the latter would be the going and the price. So first of all I going to sum up the results of all the definite qualifiers I have received, I have taken this from the 26th December to the 27th August. First of all I would like to point that during the 245 days covered we had 130 Non Betting days this was due to having No Qualifiers or the potential selections become Non Qualifiers. Here is the breakdown:

Here I was working to the authors recommended bank of 80 points as you can see over 50 % of that has disappeared. Now I give details of the strike rate, average prices etc:

Selections 195, Winners 18

9.23% Strike Rate

Average Price of Winner

8.91 BFSP

Average Price of Selections

18.76 BFSP

Longest Losing Run

23 (Once), 21(Once)

Now what is Hot Horses now I had to have a quick look back through the 8 page pdf manual just to refresh my memory (Not what it used to be), well it has 12 static rules and 4 non static rules and part of the static rules is manual calculations although the author does give some advice on how to eliminate races quickly that do not qualify to avoid unnecessary calculations. The author says it takes about an hour a day to see if there are any potential selections I would say at least that, although if the going is soft or heavy you do not have to bother because the system only applies to good, good to firm, firm going and All Weather. Now I came across a discrepancy between the manual and the e-mails I received, in the manual it says you do not back horses under 5/1 with the bookmakers or under 6.50 with Betfair. Now up to the end of May none of the selections given as definite selections were under those prices, but from the 2nd of June onwards i have had 53 selections under 6.50 on Betfair this is more than just a mistake. So I have now given the results applying the price rule in the manual:

Now we can see an improvement in the P/L but it is still losing and here is the strike rate and averages:

This also had 146 Non Betting Days out of the 245 day period, and as you will notice it had a losing run of 49 this lasted from the 3rd of June to 18th July. The cost of the system was 95 pounds back in December and came with 3 months of free e-mails. At that time the author was considering charging around 20 pounds per month for an e-mail service.

I did have a winning selection on the 10th March at 9.00 but I never received the e-mail until the following day Match 11th so unfortunately it has not been considered in this review. The Hot Horses website is now showing that membership is full and to leave your name and e-mail address given its performance I find this some what hard to believe.

   Conclusion and Final Verdict

I am going to award this 2 stars and Commissioner open the jail door its another Failed and Jailed. Which ever way you go it’s a big flop the site when it was taking members said you could expect an average of 200 points profit a year, either following the manual or the e-mails they are showing a loss and two third of the year has gone already. The time you had brought the manual and if you did not want to spend at least hour probably more every day to find you had No Selection, subscribe to the e-mail service you would be well out of pocket. Although you could place your bets in the morning and stipulate minimum odds of 6.5 on Betfair how would you know what the going would be like in the afternoon? So you would have to monitor the racing in the afternoon and evening so that is more time spent for no profit. Of course the system is relying on a couple of big winners to make the profits and it is certainly going to do need plenty of them in the next 4 months to achieve its claimed yearly profits.

So if you want a system that has:

(1) More Non Betting Days than Betting Days, sometimes you can over a month without a selection especially in the winter.

(2) You can endure losing runs of 21, 23 or even 49 and have the pleasure of 3 straight wins just once if you follow the e-mails.

( 3) spend at least an hour or more a day trying to finds selections, then monitor the races for the going and prices in the afternoon./ evening in the hope of a big priced winner or two then this could be for you?

Good Luck
