I always try to check and agree my results with the vendor where possible. Today John reduced his profit by 1.43 points with the following message:
The 3.40 LINGFIELD saw the price of the favourite fall significantly into 1.34 after a withdrawal of the 2nd favourite. However, as you would have already placed your lay, the profit on that race has been calculated at 1.70 instead of the final BSP in order to keep tallies fair.
I don’t think this is correct. If the odds have moved then we must accept that, for better or worse. I would not have been happy to increase the profit had we been backing instead of laying, so I see no reason to restrict the win in this case.
