Magic Backing Bot – Days 75 to 80
3rd February 2012
Sgt Colin reviews Magic Backing Bot
Here are the results for the twelfth week of the trial (up until Thursday 2nd of February). Only 4 days’ races to go until the end of the trial.
Results for January had been pretty dull up until the end of the previous week. How did we go this week?
27th January 6 selections, with a 2 winners @ 3.05, and 3 2nd places (for which we get nothing!). A loss of 1.11 points using advised stakes and 0.11 points on level stakes.
28th January 3 selections – with nothing very close to winning. 3 points lost using both plans
29th January 3 selections – with one winner @ 3.25. Lost 0.86 points using the staking plan, gained 0.14 points to level stakes
30th January And again! 3 selections – with one winner @ 2.38. Lost 1.69 points using the staking plan, and 0.69 points to level stakes
31st January 4 selections today, with 2 winners at short odds. We lost 1.13 points on the staking plan, 0.13 points down to level stakes.
1st February. 3 selections – with no winners (and 2 seconds!). 4 points lost using the staking plan, 3 points to level stakes.
No selections on either 2nd or 3rd as the jumps meetings were abandoned due to frost.
So during this week we didn’t have a winning day, with 22 selections, at average odds of 3.21 – with 7 winners (at lower than average odds of 2.54) – a hit rate of 31%. We had no multiple wins, and a highest losing run of 5 . Using advised stakes we lost 10.3 points overall, whilst to level stakes we lost 6.42 points.
So using the advised bank of 75 points, we now have the following statistics:
Advised stakes: 474 points staked, Gain to date 11.78 points (ROI = 2.5%). Current bank = 86.78 points (up 15.7%)
Level stakes: 301 points stakes, Gain to date 7.77 points (ROI = 2.6%). Current bank = 82.77 points (up 10.4%).
Hit rate: 34.2% Average Odds of winners : 3.11 Best winning run: 4 (twice) Worst losing run : 9 (twice).
January was pretty poor for the Magic Backing Bot, breaking even on level stakes, but losing 12 points using the staking plan (which relies upon consecutive winners to make money). We’re now down to the point where a few more losing days would mean that the gains have been given back. Let’s see whether we end with a flourish or a whimper.
