Just for completeness, today is Wednesday 25th August so you know that you really are up to date!

Just as Martin predicted, we had a selection (at last!) today – here are the details:

Brighton 16:00 – Satwa Laird

2nd at Goodwood last month sees Selection as forecast favourite.  There are however, a few negatives that make him opposable. He has not run at Brighton before and his 2 wins have been on galloping tracks so may he not enjoy Brighton’s sharp course. Wins have been on Good to Firm & Good going so it’s not guaranteed he will enjoy today’s Good to Soft surface – he did run on Soft 2 years ago and finished 4th. Official Rating is back up to 87 now (a mark he has never achieved even a place with) and he carries 9st 13lbs today which is more weight than he has shouldered before. Trainer has a low strike rate at the course and has not had a winner in this age group in the last 5 years (admittedly there has only been 1 attempt) and jockey rides for the first time today. Others in the race look to have decent chances.

He obviously did not like the filthy weather we have had down South today and came in fifth of the seven runners at a Betfair SP of 5.50 (USP 7/2). That gave us a profit for the day of £38.00 or 0.95 of a point at level stakes and our cumulative bank is almost back to scratch at £1, 954.00 – a loss of -£46.00 or -1.15 points at level stakes.

Until tomorrow – I will begin building my Ark in the meantime!

Kind regards

Tony
