Some good races this Saturday and difficult which ones to choose from, but an obvious choice for our tipster was the Winter Derby at Lingfield as he is from a flat racing background although we can’t deny that his knowledge of jump racing is pretty good also…..Role on Cheltenham!!
Here is the email I received last night from the anonymous tipster: (I am copying and pasting the tips only, not the general chit chat we have, but he has asked me to pass on to you all, that he is grateful for the great response he has had in the comments section and he has been reading them all.)
Betway Winter Derby Stakes (Group 3) 3:15 Lingfield
” The obvious choice in this is the favourite Mutakayyef and has every reason to be favourite but I’m not going to tip a 11/10 shot and I’m going to look for value elsewhere. Mutakayyef is using this race as a warm up for a stint in Dubai and you can’t argue he is a top class performer and he will be hard to beat but he has to carry top weight and his best distance is at a mile, so I’m going to side with Grendisar.
He won this race last year but only finished 4th in the Derby trial a few weeks back where as last year he won both. Botti has put blinkers on him today so hopefully that will sharpen him up and at 11/2 I think is value. Last year it took him a couple of races to reach peak so I think he would of come on for that race he had a few weeks back.”

Betbright Handicap Chase (Grade 3)
“A horse that impressed me over hurdles was Three Musketeers and that’s who I am going for today, there are a couple of question marks like will he stay the trip and will the cheekpieces have the same effect as last time when winning at Market Rasen but I think the longer distance will suit him. He will need soft going though so check that before you bet.
The Skelton stable is in form and he has only been given a 2lb rise in weights from his last win. I think he could run a good race today.”
