We all know the feature race of today’s cards is the Betfair Ascot Chase, but we won’t insult your intelligence by tipping a 4/9 shot. Instead, we will focus on a couple of Grade races today and just sit back and enjoy Cue Card having his prep run for his stint at next month’s Gold Cup.

The first race we are going to concentrate on is the 15:15 Haydock:

Here is the email I received last night from the anonymous tipster:

Betfred Grand National Trial Handicap Chase (Grade 3)

” This is a tough race to call, but I like a challenge, my selection for this race is Pipe’s runner Vieux Lion Rouge which apparently means Old Red Lion. Most of these horses have an entry in the Grand National and have not been seen for a while as the trainers have been guarding their mark before the weights came out for the national. Now the weights are out they can win and not get penalised in the national.

Pipe has looked after this horse in the last year only having a few starts, his last race winning the Bechers Chase over the national fences, we know this horse can jump, and we know that he can stay, he runs well fresh and he is still fairly well treated in the weights.”

The next race is the 15:50 Haydock

Albert Bartlett Prestige Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)

” I really like the top 2 in the betting here. No Hassle Hoff and The Worlds End, both have cases why they should win, but I was very impressed how No Hassle Hoff bolted up in November at Hereford winning by 19 lengths in soft ground. My only slight concern would be he can pull hard so let’s hope Bridget can get him settled early. He has since placed in two Grade 2 races, latest just getting headed before the line. Every race he seems to be improving, and with bottom weight he should run a good race.”

So there you have it, your free bets for this weekend. Good Luck if you are betting and I will be back next Saturday with some more tips.

Feel free to comment below if you have any selections for any of the Saturday’s racing. I would love to hear from you as always.
