Favourite’s Phenomenon Final Review
Rating:

Hi Bloggers
I have been trying out Favourite’s Phenomenon since March 8th and overall I have been pretty impressed, as per the website this is not a get rich now method but an investment. During the trial I have also had the chance to try out the FP Bot and it proved to be very reliable. I think only on one occasion did it let me down, I just simply reinstalled and was back up and running. Out of the 84 days of the review there was 21 days when there was no betting due mainly to the Maximum Potential Loss limits being exceeded or races over lapping. So out of the remaining 63 days only on two days did any of the Levels fail to get the winner the break down of the different Levels is as follows:
Level 1: 62 Days/59 Days won = 95.23% Strike Rate
Level 2: 47 Days /46 Days won = 98.04% Strike Rate
Level 3: 44 Days/ 43 Days won = 97.75% Strike Rate
Of course you could say you are doing stop at winner (SAW) but the winner came in an average of 2.57 of the qualifying races, so most of the time you had an early finish but you cannot not have a fraction of a race so it is probably best to say either the second or third qualifying race would produce the goods. There have been some comments posted on the blog about having to bet 70 points or even 121 points just to make a one point profit with FP if you follow the manual, program the FP Bot correctly or use the manual calculators provided properly its just not going to happen! Just to back it up the point’s outlay and returns are shown below for each Level:
Level 1: 122.6 points outlay, Profit 41.79 points = ROI 34.13%
Average points outlay per day = 1.98
Level 2: 102 points outlay, Profit 35.94 points = ROI 35.12%
Average points outlay per day = 2.12
Level 3: 130.66 points’ outlay, Profit 19.54 points = ROI 14.95%
Average points outlay per day = 2.97
It can be clearly seen that the outlay especially on Levels 1 and 2 is not that high to obtain 1 point profit, it must be said that the method has safeguards built in to protect the stakes from getting out of control, the FP Bot has them built in and you can adjust them to suit your comfort zone. I personally would use Level 1 as you get more action and losses are a lot lower but as a compromise Level 2 is good as well, the author of the system use Level 3 but I think for most of us the first 2 levels would be sufficient and would provide a steady income. Just to add all profits are shown at Betfair prices and commission has been accounted for in the calculations, although in my review I showed both ISP and BF the author recommends the latter and there was slight advantage during the trial.
So downsides the FP Bot costs 35 pounds a month, but if you have time in the afternoon the system comes with manual calculators which I have used as well. If doing the manual way you need to place your bets close to the off, around 10 seconds or so, I actually set the FP Bot to place bets 5 seconds before the start time. Once again there will
be variations in results on occasions, the results on the website are to Level 3 and depending of course when you do your calculations and place your bets. Another minor issue is that it is so consistent it is a shock when there is a losing day, you tend to get complacent.
So in conclusion based on what has happened over the 12 week review period I would recommend this system and award it four stars, as I have already said it might not suit some people but if you want to earn a steady profit with not much hassle then this could be for you. I personally prefer Levels 1 and 2 if you want to keep the stakes on the lower side, but once again that is up to the individual. So if you do purchase paper trade first read the manual especially for the FP Bot make sure your settings are correct.

…..Another loser for level 1 but the good news …less than 3 points. Not really a surprise the way the odds were plus a couple of borderline favs.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings…
MikeL
I’m still sticking to Matt’s advice and avoiding Saturday’s, so for ONCE it’s paid off!
Overall though, of the 3 of us, I’ve easily incurred the most losses, five occasions, 2 at level 3 and 3 at level 1 over 46 points in all. I need to stop fiddling with the bot though. Decided to exclude the 2.25 at Thirsk yesterday as “unlikely” to deliver. – resulting in a loss of nearly 7 points instead of 5!
Weird day yesterday, 3 afternoon courses, all good to firm and balanced mix of races, yet only 2 favs made it home over the 21 races.
Dave, I’ve now had a couple of losses with the Bot which you’ve avoided, are you using Matt’s standard settings apart from ‘Time to place bets’ set to 5 seconds?
Scotty
I will have to send you an e-mail if i go into the workings of the Bot here it may reveal to much about FP.

Sgt Dave
Thanks Dave, – looking forward to it.. Correction in full swing now, once again though, best just weathering it out at level 1. Only 1 fav home in 21 today whoa!
You ain’t kidding Scotty!! 3 consecutive losing days blah!!
Cheers

Hi Folks
Is it really a correction or have we forgot what is in the manual?, i quote ” i would advise caution when some of the big racing events are run” one of these being Glorious Goodwood, quote 2 ” Pay attention to weather conditions and going”.
Right Friday we had Bangor on Sunday Chester both had good to soft going result only 1 out of 13 favourites won, thats a percentage of only 7.69%. Overall for the 3 days Friday to Sunday the meetings with good or better going produced 12 winning favourites from 55 races thats nearly 22%. Although 22% is not great the racing had large fields and it was no coincidence that the majority of the few favourites that won were in the smaller fields.
Its okay just pressing go on the Bot but it cannot do everything for you, you have to do a little research first, if the racing looks dodgy leave it alone there is always another day. Look at Sunday one meeting has good to soft going, another only good, the one meeting with good to firm going starts the day with 2 Amateur Handicap races. 4 out of the first 5 race are handicaps when one normally expect to have a higher percentage of non handicaps. Commonsense has to prevail here and some effort is still required on your part, just a heads up Folks.

Hi Sgt Dave
This is where following a system gets hard. Your comments are 100% valid.
I would like to add that the interpretation of the wording is important here. Based on the experience of the last few days (with hindsight) something far more than caution has been needed ie perhaps upgraded to “could be fundamental to the betting” (best to avoid)…would be better.
I thought the conditions were ok…but plainly not as the figures suggest.
Don’t get me wrong nobody forced me to bet. I did feel very uneasy about the last few days but in the game we play there is also the element of thinking too much which has to be balanced with the common sense approach of being prepared to back off for a while.
Still a nice profit showing but confidence rattled a bit.
Cheers

Hi, I have joined the fp system and I am using the Bot using Level 1. I have lost 16 Points in the last four days.I have had only one day which I achieved the target of 1 Point. That is not very good going for a system which is recommended. I would like to hear your comments. Lisa.
Hi Lisa
The FP system was recommended based on what happened during the 84 day trial it also performed well for another 6 weeks after the review, the reason for some of the losses i have explained above really some of the days were No Betting days. The manual does give some warnings about big meetings and going changes, also about paper trading for a few weeks until you are comfortable with it, before going live. If you are using a bot make sure its set to 5 seconds or less before the off and there are other settings within it that can help reduce losses on a bad day or days which happen to every system or service no matter how good they are its inevitable.
I hate to see anyone of you lose money thats why i spend many hours after a review looking at data before i pass or fail anything, but i still can only base my findings on what happened during the trial or before, i cannot see into the future, but i still believe the FP system will make a profit medium/long term, especially if you look out for the warning signs that could indicate a non betting day.

Hi Lisa
I don’t think there is anything to add to Sgt Dave’s and other thoughts above.
The system has been around for a few years (there are very few which have) which bodes well for the chances it gives us all.
This does not take away the disappointment of hitting a losing run but as we are learning far more attention has to be paid to the issues mentioned above.
All the best
MikeL
Hi Sgt Dave, I have my Bot set at 5 seconds and my minimum stakes at 1.85 and maximum stakes at 5.50.Is there any other recommendations that I should follow.I would appreciate your help. Thanks Lisa.
Hi Lisa
I have to protect the system if i reveal to much on the blog it would not be good, if you can forward an e-mail to me through the admin on this site i will try to send you some more recommendations which i hope will be beneficial to you.

Sgt Dave
hello,
I dont want to be negative but I think this site is marvelous so i think its only fair for us readers to take time to give feedback to various systems…I bought FP around start of july and have lost heavily…..level 2 lost 5th july (£200 to me),Aug 1st level 2 lost (£390 to me) very next day (2nd aug) level 1 lost
(£118 to me) and today( 5th July) level 2 lost yet again (£240 to me).
I think that with such system you can have long winning runs so whilst I toally accept the review on here (after all thats why I bought the system) I do think it is down to the vagaries of luck WHEN the trial was done….if the trial had started start of July through August then I,m sure the profit/loss result, and hence the review would possibly be very different .
I think there is an elementary flaw in the premise of this system but obviously cant write that here otherwise it would give the system away
Just read previous comments and I must say I disagree with some of sgt Daves comments of 2nd AUG….whilst I totally agree that the manual clearly says avoid saturdays and big meetings (which I did)…the whole system is based on stats and once you start interpreting going or number of runners or indeed anything else, then you are invalidating the whole data on which the system is based…..if you are going to start interpreting how you feel about races and start excluding them then you are not actually operating the system on the stats it is based on!.
@Paul,
I agree with Sgt dave abd disagree with you. Matt says that he based the method on the stats. Therefore using stats about going, number of runners , time of day, time of Year, type of race, course etc are all relevant if they give an edge.
I don’t know what happened to my attenpted post last night, but just to clarify:
I the FPBot multi-cycle (but otherwise to standard FP rules) for 4 weeks.
Took losses, attacked the stats and ran it for 2 weeks using my own extra filters.
I am not running it this month, because it is not cost effective for my bank size and expected average return .
Ian
Ian
Ian,
You obviously dont understand how the stats the system is based on was arrived at .
It dosnt use stats about going,no of runners time of race etc!! so you are badly misguided…the bets and data are based PURELY on whether fav or not.
Paul
Hi Folks
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but i want to quote this from the FP manual:
Pay attention to weather conditions
Arguably the most important factor in the outcome of a horse race is the going (or
ground conditions). Some horses love harder ground, and some love soft.
Today successful with the job done by the 3rd qualifying race, the meetings Brighton Good to Firm, Lingfield All Weather and Worcester Good (Good to Firm in places). In fact a free report has come out from David Renham at Punter Profit giving stats on flat favourites for the last 5.5 years, which also backs up my theory on going, and types of race.
Anyway you pays your money, you take your choice.
Regards
Sgt Dave
Hi Dave,
It seems that Paul thinks that if you use the available stats to improve your odds you invalidate the system. There is no pleasing some people. But then they are free to run the system any way they want. It is only Mat who has to either run the original (for the logging of results) or modify it and tell us all.
Personally I don’t care if I run a bog standard system or a tweeked one, so long as I get the best possible return out of it. Since I don’t have access to the 10 yrs of data that Mat used and want to run muti-cycle, i have just gone through the Adrian Massey stats looking at consecutive losing sequences and applied logical (not random) tweeks until I got the improvement I sought.
Ian
Can this be used on American tracks? Thanks for any help.
J
Hi J- Man
As far as i am aware it is only for UK tracks as this is where the author has done his reasearch.
