Total Football Trading The Paper Chaser – Days 32 to 34

16th December 2011

Hi Bloggers, Sgt Colin here.

3 days to review on this post, there being no worthy trades on Tuesday.

Wednesday 14th

5 selections, from more than 10 qualifying bets, primarily in the Europa Cup.

Besiktas v Stoke.  Backed the home team at 1.87, and initially the odds shortened all the way to 1.81. This was early, and I decided to follow the “rules” and let the winning trade run. Unfortunately, the odds went out to 1.89, but I was able to close out at 1.87, to break even.

Olympiakos @ Leviadakos. Backed Olympiakos @ 1.29, and the odds shortened quite quickly to 1.23. I decided that as the odds were low, the value probably lay with taking an early profit – which I did, making 4.63 points. This was a good move, as the odds lengthened to 1.26 by the usual closure point.

Red Star @ Slovan Bratislava. Layed Red Star at 1.75, and after a small move in the right direction, the odds shortened. I closed out just before the stop loss, at 1.71, losing 3.12 points.

Maccabi Haifa v Schalke. Layed Maccabi against the league winners at 1.99. After a long period when little happened, with a couple of hours to go ’til kick off the odds lengthened and I closed out at 2.12, making 5.88 points profit.

Lazio v Sporting. Backed Lazio at 1.57, and they shortened to 1.55, making 1.23 points, to bring the day’s gains to 8.63 points

I actually missed out on a big winner (9.5 points!), as Wislav Krakov’s odds lengthened from 2.2 to 2.5 during the session, and there were some signals to support an initial lay bet. Rats – but 5 bets were probably enough to monitor effectively.

Thursday 15th December

An interesting day, where I made the mistake of trading whilst not being able to close out at the appropriate time. It came out alright (in fact I made a lucky gain) but I’m only going to record the “proper results” – i.e. as if I had traded properly. It does again show that this approach is time consuming / time critical, and it is sometimes easy to make a hash of things if you aren’t disciplined.

Anyway, what did I do? 4 Europa Cup games selected.

Copenhagen v Standard Liege.  Layed the Danes at 1.93. This went all wrong – and the stop loss kicked in at 1.87, losing 3.45 points.

PSV v Rapid Bucharesti. This was a big winner for me in real life – but only because I didn’t close out until it was in play. Layed at 1.42, and the odds lengthened to 1.47 by an hour pre kick off, gaining 7.69 points. (The odds I closed out on were 1.62, and I made over 20 points!)

Tottenham @ Shamrock. Layed at 1.48, and the odds fluctuated (primarily against us). In the end I managed to close out at break even, as I did with Austria Vienna v Malmo, where an initial lay at 1.55 was closed out at the same odds.

So a gain of 4.24 points on the day.

Friday

Only 4 games to chose from, and none were strong enough to trade.
