D G Tips Review Day 11

11th November 2017

Sgt Mick Review

Dear Member
Summer Icon ran a huge race last night. He was held up, forced widest of all and has still run on well to finish 3rd. He goes down as an unlucky loser and is one to keep on side.
Midnight Macchiato was woeful, he was off the bridle turning for home and was quiet clearly caught out for pace.
One later at Newcastle, fingers crossed for a big performance.
Tips for Saturday 11th November, 2017

1.00 Doncaster – Showboating 16-1 Skybet 5places
0.5pts E/W  unp. -£10
Showboating loves some soft ground underfoot and is back down to his last winning mark which saw him victorious at Carlisle by a cosy 2l’s. Lewis Edmunds has won on him before so the fact he rides tomorrow is a huge bonus, not only is he a fantastic jockey but he also has a good relationship with this horse. Looking at the pace angles I am fairly happy with Showboating’s draw in stall 3, Boots and Spurs is the likely front runner and he is drawn in stall 8 so low is perhaps the place to be. Showboating is leniently priced and should outrun his odds.
1.35 Doncaster – Bertiewhittle 16-1 widely available 4places
0.5pts E/W  pl.3rd returned £20

Bertiewhittle ran a cracker in this last year to finish 2nd, he ran that day of 90 however only had Hector Crouch on board negating 3lb. Tomorrow he runs of 92 but Gabriele Malune is on board who negates 7lb which actually puts him on a lower mark than last year. He was beat last year by Oh This Is Us who came into the race as a 3 year old rated 101, Oh This Is Us hit a rating of 110+ earlier this season, there is nothing in this race tomorrow who strikes me as an Oh This Is Us plot and therefore last year’s 2nd Bertiewhittle looks a good bet. He loves Doncaster, he loves soft ground and he ran a big race last time out at Newmarket. He is drawn in stall 4 which I am hoping (given front runner Muntadab is drawn in stall 7) is the right place to be.
3.15 Doncaster – Towerlands Park 9-1 Skybet 6places
0.5pts E/W  unp. -£10
Towerlands Park looks plotted for this race. He has obviously had his quirks but he looked a picture in the paddock at Newbury and seems to have really filled out his frame now. He put in a big performance that day to finish 3rd after such a long lay-off and we can surely expect improvement from that run. He has stall 13 which is perfectly fine and as long as he gets a clear run at it I struggle to see how he won’t go close. He’s fresh for this time of the year, handled soft ground last time out and this extra trip should unlock further improvement.
4.20 Wolverhampton – Sophisticated Heir 12-1 Widely available
0.5pts E/W unp – £10
It may be worth chancing the well handicapped Sophisticated Heir in here. He was given an awful ride over this C and D last time out, he was drawn widest of all and held up in last however Clifford Lee brought him widest of all turning for home and must have given away 4-5l’s in the process. Credit where credit is due the horse has run on to finish 9th and clearly showed some promise. Dropped another 4lb by the handicapper and now with Dougie Costello (has a good record for this yard at Wolverhampton) from a good draw in stall 6 he should run a much better race.
Good Luck
DG Tips.

Poor day by recent standards with Bertiewhittle saving it from being a complete blank and saving half of stakes. Things still going well.
