Winning Racing Tips Day 42 to 51

Friday 11th June

Each Way Value:
8.05 Chepstow 7. Donna Elvira 0.2pt e/w (14/1 VCBet*, or 12/1 WillHill*/StanJames*/Tote*)
On first inpection this race looks between the top 3 in the market, in which case the third in the betting might have been a good each way shout. However it actually can be split in to three divisions with the forth and fifth in the betting making up the 2nd teir.
These two Donna Elvira and Tartaria cannot be dismissed in my view and therefore make any bet on the 3rd fav questionable.
Of those Donna Elvira is the narrow pick and looks value to get in the places in a race where only five have chances. She has form over course and distance last time out, can be expected to improve, and I liked the look of her last run where she was off the pace ridden patiently but running on nicely at the finish.

Result 2nd

held up towards rear, headway over 4f out, kept on to take 2nd inside final furlong, always held by winner opened 17/2 touched 8/1

Saturday 12th June

Each Way Value:
4.20 York 6. Rojo Boy 0.3pt e/w (12/1 StanJames*/Betinternet*, 11/1 Boylesports*)
I’m always keen to find something in a race of this nature to take the favorite on with and although it is hard to see past the favorite winning, this one is the each way pick of the rest. He is a little more exposed than most but has shown improvement with each run and the 5f last time out probably wasn’t ideal. His form when 4th of 16 over this course and distance, (2l behind the favorite) is stand out for over the rest of the field, none of the newcomers warrant support and the others to have a run under their belts haven’t shown a massive amount of promise. I’d rateit around Even money to place so 12/1 each way is obviously a nice price to me.

Result 2nd

mid-division, under pressure halfway, headway over 1f out, stayed on strongly inside final furlong, never reached winner

Monday 14th June

Today there are a couple of markets with short favourites that I’ve looked at, but you might as well stick a pin in the card to find something each way such is the scarcity of form, so I’m gonna leave them both alone.

No Selections today.

Tuesday 15th June

Each Way Value:
Ascot 2.30 10. Goldikova
& 3.50 Ascot 2. Canford Cliffs 0.4pt each way double.(7/4 and 5/2 with Bet365*/StanJames*)Note: 1/4 place odds with both Bet365 and StanJames.
This is a strange one being a each way double of 2 group 1’s, not normally the sort of competitive racing that I’d go for so I’ll go over my reasoning.

In the first, Goldikova is very much the superstar here. She has optimum conditions, has already won 8 group 1’s and has only been unplaced once in 16 starts. She could easiliy be in a different league to the rest again here and is very had to see out of the places.

In the 3.50 I think Canford Cliffs is the one to be on, I was annoyed that I hadn’t given this out as an official selection last time out when an easy winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas. That was after a lot of positive vibes were coming out of the Hannon team and Canford Cliffs looks a very useful miler after that performance, a reproduction of that form is likely and that being the case I think he would have only Mafki to worry about. There are similar sounds coming from the team this time: Canford Cliffs (St James’s Palace Stakes) – Hannon: “He has improved physically since our Guineas and now looks tremendous. He was too keen in the Greenham and again at Newmarket, but he was awesome when he finally got a proper pace in Ireland and, while we are certainly not underestimating Makfi, who is lightly-raced and can only improve, we have also gone forward as you saw at The Curragh.”
Hughes: “I just hope we get a decent gallop as everything went right in Ireland, and that is the way to ride him. Aidan has a pacemaker in there and the American (Noble’s Promise) has the rails draw so will probably make use of that, but Makfi is the one I fear most. He looked very good at Newmarket and can only get better, but, having said that, Canford has been a different horse since our Guineas and settled so much better in Ireland, and if he reproduces his Curragh run we’ll be right there.”
We do not get involved in top races very often, in fact the last time was probably when we were on Zenyatta last year and I dont expect to start getting involved in these races more, however I like the prices today. The double pays around 8/1 with almost 11/8 for them both to place (Due to 1/4 place odds) which looks highly likely.

result 1st

goldikova
tracked leaders, led over 1f out, ridden 3 lengths clear entering final furlong, idled near finish

Result 1st

canford cliffs
steadied start, held up in rear, good headway over 1f out, led inside final furlong, ran on opened 5/2

Thursday 17th June

Another day with nothing for us.
No Selections.

Friday 18th June

Each Way Value:

6.40 Ayr 4. Antarctic Desert 0.8pt e/w at 3/1 (min 11/4) IF 8 RUN.
This is definate each way value if 8 are running, however with 2 non runners already, I’d prefer to bet close to the off. 3/1 would be the target price. (11/4 min) and 0.8pt e/w the stake.
There is only five that you can give any real shout in this and outside the favourite Antarctic Desert has the best form on show. He’s improved every run this season, and 7 furlongs on this ground is likely to be ideal, having performed best on this ground last time out and in his last race in 2009.

8 Ran

Result 3rd

chased leaders, ridden over 1f out, stayed on same pace
