Our sole tip today is still to run, fingers crossed for a good performance.

Tips for Friday 17th November, 2017

12.20 Lingfield – Sword Exceed 9-2 widely available
0.5pts E/W
won returned £37-profit £27

Sword Exceed
is an interesting horse returned to the AW. His two career best performances came on the AW and it is no surprise that after disappointing with three outings on turf he has been put away for a winter AW season. The simple facts are he is a much better horse on the AW than he is on turf and he should find a mark of 77 very workable. He’s a strong traveller who loves tracking a fast pace around a turn. He absolutely romped a handicap over this C and D of 71 after a 6month break so the fact he comes here fresh could be seen as a positive. Taking a closer look at the form of that win he had Quench Dolly back in 6thwho is now rated 99, of 77 if all is well Sword Exceed should simply go very close from a good draw in stall 5.

1.15 Cheltenham – Counter Shy 9-2 Skybet 5places
0.5pts E/W
unp -£10

Counter Shy
has impressed me on his two starts this season. A win at Worcester saw him beat Banditry off level weights (better off with that rival tomorrow despite beating him 2l’s) and he put in a big performance next time out under a penalty finishing 2nd in behind Midnight Shadow. He gave the field 6lb that day which included last year’s Festival bumper 9th Cause Toujours, that is rock solid form and pitched into a handicap here Counter Shy should run a big race.

5.30 Dundalk – Golden Pearl 10-1 Bet365 3places
0.5pts E/W
unp -£10

Golden Pearl is interesting in here. Togoville will undoubtedly have a lot supporters here on his recent 3rdover 6f’s however Golden pearl would have gone close to beating him that day with luck in running so their price disparity makes Golden Pearl good value. He is well drawn in stall 5, will be suited by the strong pace and should well outrun his lenient odds back down to the bare 5f’s.

8.15 Chelmsford – Dangerous Ends 12-1 widely available 3places
0.5pts E/W won returned £85-profit £75

I’m going to side with Dangerous Ends in here. He is still a 3 year old and has his best days in front of him however a recent small break will have freshened him up and that could prove key here. He ran a stormer last time out at Kempton in a hot race over a furlong further. The winner won next time out before being beaten just 3l in the London Middle Distance Series Final and the 4th won his next 4 starts. I don’t think Dangerous Ends fully stayed the distance that day so this drop back in trip should suit. Callum Shepherd takes the ride and negates an extra 3lb and from stall 6 he should have very little trouble acquiring a good position. Choral Clan will take some beating however I’d rather be on Dangerous Ends at the prices.

9.15 Chelmsford – Red Stripes 6-1 widely available 3places
0.5pts E/W
unp -£10

Red Stripes loves this C and D and it was pleasing to see him run so well of this mark over 6f’s at Lingfield. 6f’s stretches him so the fact he was beaten just 1 1/2l’s makes me believe he can still go close of this mark back over his optimum C and D. He won here two starts back for us and considering he is a winner here of 81 a mark of 61 shouldn’t inconvenience. The main thing with this horse is a good start and good draw, he has the draw that’s for sure and we just have to hope he gets the start right.
