Sgt Mick Review

8th FEBRUARY

Tips for Thursday 8th February, 2018

3.45 Newcastle – Bollihope 11-4 widely available
1pt win Fin Unp -£10
Bollihope likes Newcastle and always saves his best for here. He has run over various trips here however I do feel this 1m 2f’s is his best. His form over this C and D reads 4th of 65, 5th of 73, 3rd of 72, 1st of 68, 1st of 63 and a 1st of 58. Tomorrow he races of 61 so is handicapped to win this with ease, in addition he has been given a wind op since his last run which should see improvement. He looks set to strike here and I will be disappointed if he doesn’t.
4.55 Newcastle – Newmarket Warrior 5-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W Fin Unp -£10
Newmarket Warrior has a liking for this particular C and D and is always there or there-about’s at the finish. He needs holding up and a good pace to aim at so is sometimes caught with trouble in running. Three reasons I like him tomorrow, 1 he is reunited with Kieran Shoemark who last rode him to victory just 4 starts back, 2 this big field will help him settle and should assure the pace in strong and 3 the yard is absolutely flying over the last week or so. It all points towards a big run, I’d expect Shoemark to take a pull and cross in behind.
6.00 Meydan – Basateen 10-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W Fin Unp -£10
I really fancy Basateen in here. Lights The Lights is an important horse when it comes to this form line and a line through that horse gives Basateen the beating of Blair House, Leshlaa and Born To Be Alive tomorrow. He is also weighted to beat Earnshaw and Carry On Deryck while a form line through Leshlaa gives him the beating of Banksea. There are a lot form lines here as you can imagine but I have gone over it numerous times and the horse that comes clear is Basateen. He ran a really good race last time out and from stall 3 tomorrow he has a great chance. In addition that was his first run back after a break so is entitled to come on for it.
7.30 Chelmsford – Strictly Carter 10-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W NonRunner
Strictly Carter has been in good form this season and deserves a change of luck. He has stall 1 tomorrow and that is key as he is best when able to sit in behind the leaders. Callum Shepherd is an eye-catching booking and his 3lb claim is good value. From stall 1 he should be able to get into a nice rhythm before unleashing his turn of foot down the straight.

4 selections but 1 non runner All 3 remaining selections were unplaced.Stakes £30 Returns £nil A loss on the day of £30 This was an unusually poor day for this tipster I cannot recall many ,if any, days when when there was no return even if it was not a winning day.The accuracy and consistency of winning with D.G. has raised expectations to such a height ,that even an occasional losing day is disappointing. However I have no doubt that “normal service ” will soon be resumed.
