D G Tips Review Day 19

19th November 2017

Sgt Mick Review

Dear Member
Another big priced winner last night with Dangerous Ends. Shepherd was superb on board I thought.
Red Stripes blew the start, he has finished stronger than anything else but we all know he needs to be ridden prominently so our fate was sealed after a few seconds. One to keep the right side of.
Onto today…
Tough start, we usually get these 1m AW handicaps pretty spot on and with our selections being backed into favourite and 2nd favourite I felt we were in for a good result but it wasn’t to be. Eagle Creek was awful, not entirely sure where we go from here with that one. Had everything to suit and was given a good ride just wasn’t good enough. Utmost ran well for a nose 4th, bit gutted he couldn’t grab 3rd but it is fairly obvious the horse needs further.
Anteros has run a huge race in 2nd. The bookies took the chance with this one again and he almost made them pay two years on the bounce. He hit the front over the last but the fav was too strong. Still very good each way returns at 14s.
Huge run from Out Do in 3rd. I felt his price was too big and with another few yards he wins. James Doyle has tactically outclassed the rest in here but still at 14-1 Out Do returned nice each way money. Spring Loaded finished 5th, he was held up in last and undoubtedly would have gone very close with a better ride.
Red Indian finished 3rd and another each way place. He just lacked a bit of race fitness I think and is one to keep the right side of.
Two to go at Wolves later, fingers crossed for good performances from both.
With the ground turning soft (if not heavy) I am going to limit the betting tomorrow.

Tips for Sunday 19th November, 2017

1.15 Cheltenham – Wylde Magic 8-1 Skybet 6places
0.5pts E/W
unp -£10
Atlantic Grey made plenty of appeal until the changing ground and that made me reassess. The horse I have sided with is Wylde Magic for the Evan Williams team. One particular performance really stands out with regards to this race and that is his performance on soft when beaten in 3rd at Sandown. He seemed to relish soft ground that day and the form really stacks up. The winner won a 25 runner competitive handicap at Punchestown next time out and the 2nd Prime Venture recently dotted up in a handicap of 130. That really is some of the best form on offer and it does make Wylde Magic’s price tomorrow look ridiculously lenient. The extra yardage will suit, the soft ground is ideal and the booking of Mitchell Bastyan is a big positive. I like the fact he has had a prep run and the Williams team are flying at present.
2.25 Cheltenham – Cloudy Dream 7-2 widely available
1pt win
fin 2nd -£10
Cloudy Dream is a horse I have a lot of time for and I just think with race fitness on his side he could give Fox Norton a lot to think about. For me Cloudy Dream’s best performance came in last year’s Arkle over this C and D so the fact he returns to that same C and D tomorrow is a massive plus. He got within 6l’s of Altior that day and I honestly don’t think any other horse in this line up could achieve that. Factor in that he receives 3lb from both Fox Norton and Special Tiara and I think he will take all the beating. Yes he has his quirks and will need to be delivered perfectly by Hughes but at the end of the day Hughes should know him well enough now to get it spot on. He has won on soft before and the fact he stays further than this is another bonus in the current conditions.
