Dear Member

Very little went right last night. We managed 1 place with Cliff Face at 12-1 however the other three were poor. Yamarharba Malayeen was heavily backed into the fav but he was denied a clear run in 4th, Accidental Agent was slow away and given 20l’s to make up under a very poor ride from Charles Bishop. So Beloved too keen, the risk you take with that horse.

Both races were run at an absolute crawl and as a result turned into sprints (Second Thought a good 6f horse and Entangling a good 10f’s horse running over 12f’s back this up). This is racing, it happens and we move on.

Onto today…

Purple Rock was absolutely awful. The race was run to suit, he took  up a nice position and the horse had no excuses. Just a very poor showing from a horse clearly going the wrong way.

Bowson Fred has run a huge race to finish 2nd. He looked all over the winner with a furlong to go but once again we have been undone by Danny Tudhope’s brilliance. It’s great when you are on board (Fayez the other day) not so much when he nails your selection on the line. Still each way returns and takes our place tally to 8 in the last 5 days.

Two still to run later at Chelmsford, fingers crossed for big performances.

Tips for Friday 24th November, 2017

3.50 Ascot – Verdana Blue 4-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W won return £34

Verdana Blue
ran a really eye-catching race over this C and D last time out when beaten in a good race by Elgin. That horse went on to win the Greatwood so the form stacks up very strongly. He was hampered at a crucial stage that day so the run can be upgraded. Add in that he should come on for the run given it was his was reappearance and he looks to have huge claims down in grade tomorrow. My only worry would be if the ground turned soft, it is good to soft at the moment but the forecast doesn’t predict much rain so we will take the chance that it remains on the good side.

7.15 Newcastle – Lathom 11-1 widely available/Astrophysics 10-1 widely available
Both 0.5pts E/W Both unplaced – £20

This is the last chance saloon for Lathom, we have backed him on numerous occasions this season. Almost every time he is well backed and almost every time he finishes 1 place outside of the places. Another 2lb drop by the handicapper allows him to drop into class 5 company for the first time in his career. He has ran just once on the AW however that was a good effort and if any AW track should suit his style of running it should be Newcastle. He is drawn by the major pace angle Casterbridge and that should give him the perfect tow into this. Graham Lee is booked who has been absolutely flying in recent times and he is the right sort of jockey for this horse. It all points towards a massive run.  Astrophysics is also worth having on side in here. He went down as an unlucky eye-catcher when we put him up last time out over this C and D. He was slow away, short for room and then ran on under hands and heels when the race was over. He has been dropped another 2lb by the handicapper so quite clearly has a huge chance. He finished 3rd in this race last year of 73 and runs tomorrow of 64. Stall 1 is the only negative however that is easily overcome as long as Joe Fanning switches in behind. You need cover here and from stall 1 he quite simply has to employ this tactic. Every horse I have seen employ a prominent tactic from stall 1 blows up with a furlong to go so like I said he must switch in behind. If he does then luck in running will decide how close he goes.

Good Luck
