This is a further continuation of reports on the Golf Bet Profits results.

Week 21 – Competitions covered this week were the Welsh Open at Celtic Manor and the Memorial at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. Each-way bets at the Welsh Open involved Jamie Donaldson, Bradley Wedge and Philip Price, with a 72-hole matchbet where Peter Hanson was backed to beat Anders Hansen. Donaldson was tying in third place after the second round, fourth following the third, then returned his worst round in the last to finish joint eighth and just out of the places. Dredge missed the cut with Price tying in twelfth. Hansen pipped Hanson by one stroke so no points gained at Celtic Manor. There was more disappointment in the States when K.J.Choi finished in joint 22nd, Justin Rose missed the cut and the 72-hole matchbet was another reversal by a stroke when Luke Donald beat Phil Mickelson. Note: There was an each-way ante-post bet placed this week on K.J.Choi in the forthcoming US Open, which will be covered in Week 23. A loss of 20 points on Week 21 – overall a profit of 14.42 points.

Week 22 – This week we were at the BMW Italian Open in Roveri and the Fedex St Jude Classic in Memphis. There were no successes in either competition this week with four of the picks finishing high up the order, but not high enough. David Horsey finished 23rd, Graeme Storm 67th, Richie Ramsey 15th, all in the Italian, with Brandt Snedeker finishing 15th, Robert Allenby 13th and Stuart Appleby withdrawing in the St Jude. A loss of 10 points on Week 22 – overall a profit of 4.42 points.

Week 23 – On then to the US Open held in Bethesda, Maryland and an amazing performance by a British player when Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy finished eight strokes ahead with an incredible 16 under par. Selections for this competition turned in unremarkable performances with three of the each-way bets missing the cut (including the ante-post bet on K.J.Choi). Phil Mickelson finished 54th, Rory Sabbatini 30th and Gregory Havret also 30th. There were two 72-hole matchbets, one successful after Rickie Fowler missed the cut so Robert Karlsson notching the points, but Alvaro Quiros won the other after Justin Rose also missed the cut. So we were now facing a 15.45 loss overall, but along came a final late bet, three points at 6/1 on Jason Day to win, without McIlroy being involved (who looked out of sight before the last round). In simple terms Day had to finish second, which he did, so a return of 18 points which turned around a substantial loss into a small profit. A profit of 2.55 points on Week 23 – overall a profit of 6.97 points.

Total profit carried forward after 23 weeks = 6.97 points

Only one successful week in these reviews and that a relatively small one. Overall a loss of 27.45 points over the three weeks and if it had not been for the inspired bet on Jason Day in the US Open we would have been looking at an overall loss of 11.03 over the 23 weeks, so quite a dip in the profit graph. Having said that, a profit of 6.97 points over this period is not too rosy…

Best Regards
