Another day where we had a selection and here is what we were told:
“Nottingham 16:55 – Classic Descent
A few 2nds recently sees Selection as Racing Post forecast favourite here today. There are, however, a few negatives which means he is opposable. A winner over 7 furlongs over 2 years ago off of a mark of 82, he has never recaptured that form and has been as low as 58 and still not won. After his recent placed runs, he is now off of 60. Untried at Nottingham so track suitability is not known. Apart from a race at Kempton in June last year, he carries more weight today than ever before (for info he came 6th of 9 in the Kempton race). Trainer has had 1 winner from 14 attempts at the track in the last 5 years and jockey has never ridden him before. There are a few rivals that are starting to look like having a winnable handicap rating and we therefore recommend lay subject to maximum odds of 6.4 REMEMBER WE ARE BACKING THIS HORSE TO LOSE.“
Well, the selection obliged and duly came 4th of 12 runners at a Betfair SP of 4.80 and an ISP of 7/2. We made £38.00 profit after Betfair commission, or 1 point at level stakes.
Our cumulative bank now stands at £2,152.00 giving us a profit to date of £152.00 or 4 points at level stakes (which is 4 out of 4 losing selections in the 10 days of the trial!).
