One selection to start the weekend.
Sandown 16:15 – Captain Coke
Bids for a 4 timer having been acquired at the Newmarket sales and makes his first run for the in form Michael Jarvis yard. There are, however, a few negatives that make him opposable. His recent wins have been at Newmarket and he has also won on the All Weather at Kempton & Dundalk. Nevber been tried at Sandown so suitability of track is not known. His turf wins have been on Good to Firm going and he always seems to struggle on ground with some give in it. Today’s forecast Good ground is therefore not guaranteed to suit him and further rain is forecast for the area. Raised 6lbs for recent length and a half win, his Official Rating is now at a career high 81 (which is 2 stone higher than his first run this year) and he carries 9st 8lbs today which is more weight than he has shouldered previously. Trainer has a good strike rate here but jockey rides for the first time today.
The winner was an outsider (at 65.80!) but our selection came in second of the nine runners at a Betfair SP of 2.38 (ISP 11/8) giving us a £38.00 profit (0.95 of a point at level stakes) for the day. Our bank now stands at £1,916.00 giving us a loss to date of -£84.00 or -2.10 points at level stakes.
